I had several people ask me to show them how I made the Jordan almond favors for my daughter and son-in-law's wedding this weekend.  Honestly, they are much easier than they look and I'd be more than happy to share how I put them together over about four evenings after my kids went to sleep.

Jordan almonds (called koufeta in Greek) favors (bonbonieres) are given to each guest attending a Greek Orthodox wedding.  The style and intricacy of these favors vary from one family to another.  The white symbolizes purity.  The egg shape represents the new life which begins with marriage.  The hardness of the almond represents the endurance of marriage and the sugar symbolizes the sweetness of the marriage.  You always place an odd number of almonds in the favor as to be indivisible, just as the bride and groom shall remain undivided.

1. I purchased ribbon specifically made for making Jordan almond flowers.  There are at least a couple different styles and they are available in different colors.  I purchased my ribbon from Party Favors Plus.

2.  Determine how many almonds you want, as well as if you are going to place them in every petal or every other petal.

I bought our Jordan almonds in bulk on Amazon.

I placed 5 almonds in each flower, one in every other petal.  You could place as few as three or as many odd numbered as you desire.  (Remember the odd number holds symbolism)

3.  After placing the almonds in the petals, pull the two strings on either side to begin to gather the petals together.

Once you have the ribbon gathered into a flower shape after pulling the strings on both sides, tie the four strings into a knot.

4. I used one dot of hot glue to hold the ribbon in place on the ends.  Then I snipped off the excess strings with scissors so they wouldn't show.

5. For the tags, I bought card stock and a 2.5 inch circle paper punch from Hobby Lobby.

I purchased the personalized stamp on etsy for our tag and used a green ink pad to transfer the image.  The rubber stamp can also serve double duty for their thank you cards for their wedding gifts.

I also got a small hole punch from Hobby Lobby for the tags along with decorative brads to attach the tag to the flower.
